Latest Commissions

  • Ensemble Selisih with funding from Creative New Zealand
    I was commissioned to write a quartet for 2 Saxophones, Flute and Piano  for their tour of Germany, Indonesia and New Zealand in July/August 2009. View a sample of the score.
  • Father Arthur E Bridge for Ars Musica Australis
    I was commissioned to write a 5 minute work for the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra to perform in their 2009 Masterworks series. View a sample of the score.
  • Chamber Music New Zealand
    I was commissioned to write a 10 minute composition for violin and piano for John Chen and Julia McCarthy to play in a 16 concert tour of New Zealand in 2007. View a sample of the score.

  • SOUNZ Centre for New Zealand Music
    I was commissioned by the SOUNZ Community Commission in 2006 write a fanfare for the Manukau City Symphony Orchestra. Fanfare for Manukau was premiered in December 2007. View a sample of the score.

Composition Tuition

In 2007 I completed a Master of Music degree with distinction from the New Zealand School of Music. I also have a Bachelor of Music degree with first class honours from the University of Auckland. In 2007, after completing my Masters degree I spent six months studying in Europe under some of their finest composers.

I am currently working at Unitec New Zealand as a  Lecturer where I am lecturing in Composition and Musicianship.

Music Theory Tuition

In year 12 at school I gained AMusTCL. From there, I completed numerous University papers in Harmony and Counterpoint, Analysis and Musical History as a part of my BMus (Hons) degree.

Sibeilus music notation software

I have been using Sibelius notation software for over 10 years. All my own compositions are notated with Sibelius. I have also had tutorials on Sibelius 4 from MusiTech Enterprises Ltd.

Orchestrator and Arranger

I have created professional orchestrations/arrangements for a number of various occasions, including the arrangement of popular and classical music for the Adesso Strings to play at weddings. Other arrangements and orchestrations also include classical pieces, solos and duets for students and other compositions.
