I believe that learning to play an instrument should be fun and that a high standard of technique and musicianship lead to lifelong enjoyment.
I teach students from beginner to advanced level that vary in age from 8 years to adult. I have experience in teaching both private and group lessons and have taught at a number of schools including the Kristen School, Howick School of Music, Takapuna Grammar, Baradene College, Rodney College and the Auckland Community Learning Centre.
I have been teaching clarinet for over 15 years. Many of my students have been successful in Trinity College and Royal Schools examinations. I also have students that play purely for the enjoyment of the clarinet.
Lessons are tailored to suit you. Beginners have 30 minute lessons and advanced students have 45 minute lessons. I teach from a studio in Grey Lynn/Ponsonby. If you have any questions or would like to organise a lesson please contact me by phone or email.
Music Theory and NCEA Level 1-3 Tuition
I have a strong interest in music theory and much of my day-to-day work is spent lecturing music theory at Unitec. I provide tuition in music theory for Royal Schools and Trinity College examinations and also for NCEA Level 1-3.
I have a Master of Music degree from the New Zealand School of Music (clarinet performance and composition) and an ATCL in clarinet performance and AMusTCL from the Trinity College London. I have been lecturing music at Unitec for seven years in the subjects of musicianship, composition and music technology. I am an active composer in the New Zealand music scene.
